What we hold, and why.

This is written in plain language on purpose. It covers this website, the preview sites we build, and the services on a DirecSites plan.

01Who this is from

DirecSites is a division of Direcstaff LLC, 9550 South Eastern Avenue, Suite 253, Las Vegas, Nevada 89123. When this notice says we or us, that is who it means. Questions about anything on this page go to [email protected].

02What we collect

Only what the work needs.

  • When you email us. Your name, your email address and whatever you put in the message.
  • When you become a customer. Business name, contact details, the domain, and the content you send us for the site.
  • When you pay. Stripe handles the card. We receive a record that a payment succeeded, along with the billing name and the last four digits. We never see or store the full card number.
  • When someone visits. Basic, aggregated traffic figures. Pages viewed, rough location by country or city, and the kind of device. Not names, not profiles.

03Preview sites

Before we speak to a business we sometimes build a preview version of its website and host it on a link. A preview is built from information that is already public: the business name, its address and phone number, its services, its published photographs where the licence allows it, and what its current website says.

A preview is not indexed and is not advertised. If you are the business and you want the preview taken down, email us and it comes down. You do not have to give a reason.

04Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details go to Stripe directly and are handled under Stripe's own privacy terms. We keep the invoice and payment records that a business is required to keep.

05Analytics and cookies

This site uses analytics to count visits and see which pages get read. It is used to decide what to write next, not to build a profile of you. We do not run advertising trackers on this site and we do not sell or rent anything we hold to anyone.

Sites we build for customers may use analytics too. Where they do, it is the same kind: counting, not tracking.

06The receptionist add-on

If a customer switches the receptionist on, calls to their line are answered by an automated assistant. To do that job the call is turned into text so the assistant can respond, book the appointment and send the business owner a written summary. The summary and the transcript belong to the business, not to the caller's phone company and not to us.

This information is used to run the service for that business. It is not used for advertising and it is not sold.

07Who else sees it

We use a small number of service providers to run the work: hosting for the sites, Stripe for payments, an email provider, and the platform behind the phone line. They see only what they need to do their part, and they are not allowed to use it for their own purposes.

We will hand information over if the law requires it. We will tell the customer it affects unless we are prevented from doing so.

08How long we keep it

Customer records are kept while the account is open, and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting rules require billing records to be kept. Preview sites for businesses that never became customers are deleted once it is clear there is no interest.

09What you can ask for

  • A copy of what we hold about you or your business
  • A correction to anything that is wrong
  • Deletion, where we are not required to keep it
  • A full export of your site, at any time, for any reason

Email [email protected] and say which one you want.

10Children

This is a service sold to businesses. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

11Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change is significant, customers get an email about it rather than a quietly edited page.
